Progressive & Developmental

The course will cover everything from fitting a harness and helmet to safety, climbing techniques, belaying and abseiling. The inter-dependency, trust , communication and reliability involved in rock climbing are key factors within this course.

The mobile bouldering wall, climbing wall and local artificial climbing walls may be used leading up to a day at the crags on real rock.

This is a progressive climbing course suitable for any student aged 8 years and above. It is assumed that the participants have no previous experience of climbing, however the program can be adjusted to accommodate individual or group requirements. By the end of this series of sessions the successful participant will have the knowledge and experience to climb at a recognised artificial climbing wall, and will be aware of the procedures and safety issues involved.

Highline Adventure can provide a developmental programme that can be delivered over a number of sessions within a week, or over several weeks.

This climbing wall course inevitably involves the students in various aspects of personal development; overcoming their fears, skills progression, personal challenge, having a belief in and understanding of their own abilities (this climbing wall has routes to cater for every level of ability and confidence including disabled) and trusting those around you.

This climbing course is delivered by a British Mountaineering Council qualified instructor (Single Pitch Assessed) who is CRB checked, a qualified teacher and a qualified First Aider who has been working with all ages of students as an outdoor instructor for the past 7 years.

The instructors leading this programme have been assessed by the Mountain Leader Training Board to instruct and lead groups on single pitch rock climbs (SPA) and artificial climbing walls.
