Mobile Ice Climbing Walls |

Several of our mobile climbing walls have an ice climbing facility. One side of the 32 ft high climbing wall has secure slots designed for simulated ice climbing.
The climber is geared up in a helmet with a full face visor for protection and a pair of ice axes which are attached to the climber by wrist loops for safety.
This activity is always controlled by a belayer using a rope, auto-belays are not used for ice climbing. The ice climber ascends the wall using his axes for support, placing them strategically to stay in balance on the wall. In the event of a fall the ice climber is held on the rope whilst relocating on the wall, or is lowered slowly to the ground in a controlled way by one of our instructors.
Many of our instructors have experience of ice climbing in Scotland and the company director has climbed in the Cordillera Blanca, Peru, Mount Cook, New Zealand, the Ecrin Alps, France and throughout Scotland over many seasons.
This activity gives a different and exciting edge to wall climbing, is an interesting insight into the concepts and mechanics of ice climbing and can be used as an introduction and training ground for ice climbing. It would be appropriate for some groups of teenagers, and adult groups to use this facility.
We have found ice climbing and free abseiling sessions to be very popular with the corporate sector as well as event production companies. Please contact us to discuss with one of our experienced climbers the various options available to you
